We would like to inform you about an upcoming scheduled upgrade for Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL minor version across all environments and regions.

Reason for the upgrade

Starting May 1, 2026, you will not be able to create new database instances on Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL minor versions 14.14, 14.15, 14.16, 14.17, 15.9, 15.10, 15.11, 15.12, 16.5, 16.6, 16.7, 16.8, 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, 17.4, or 11.22-RDS.20241121 from either the AWS Console or the CLI.

During a scheduled maintenance window after May 31, 2026, Amazon RDS will automatically upgrade your Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL databases running minor versions 14.14, 14.15, 14.16, 14.17, 15.9, 15.10, 15.11, 15.12, 16.5, 16.6, 16.7, 16.8, 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, 17.4, or 11.22-RDS.20241121 to version 14.20, 15.15, 16.11, 17.7 (or higher). This also applies to any instances restored from snapshots of these versions.

AWS recommend upgrading these instances to newer minor versions to benefit from patches for known security vulnerabilities, as well as bug fixes, performance improvements, and new functionalities added by the PostgreSQL community.

• Date: March 30 – April 03, 2026 
• Time window by region:
  • US regions:  02:00 – 06:00 (UTC+1)
  • EMEA regions:  22:00  – 02:00 (UTC+1)

Please note that the estimated downtime is up to 30 minutes per RDS instance in the worst-case scenario.

Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you about an upcoming scheduled upgrade for Kubernetes to version 1.33 across all environments and regions.

Reason for the upgrade

Standard support for Kubernetes version 1.32 in Amazon EKS will end on March 23, 2026. Starting this date Amazon EKS clusters running on 1.32 with Kubernetes version policy set to extended will enter extended support.
